One of the earliest, and the most effective examples of visualization
is John Snow's cholera map, which also played a pivotal role in the
history of science and public health. In 1854, there was a big outbreak
of cholera in Soho, London. We explore John Snow's map as well as
several other examples to discuss the effectiveness of visualizations.
